TLC consultants help manage challenging behaviours in children with autism by designing custom behaviour intervention plans (BIP) for each of the clients we work with. TLC’s behaviour intervention plans use respectful, positive, non-punitive strategies; focusing on teaching new skills and functional communication to ensure long term effective change.
Consultants analyse the function of each behaviour to determine what is causing it to occur and design a BIP that allows the child to get their needs met in a more functional and positive way. A BIP helps parents and therapists to consistently and effectively manage behaviours by following detailed and individual instructions on what to do before, during and after a behaviour occurs.
Behaviour intervention plans can be a stand alone treatment strategy for families who come to us to work specifically on challenging behaviours or can be part of a comprehensive applied behaviour analysis (ABA) program that targets all the areas of our curriculum.
